Corporate Social Responsibility

In November 2013, images of unbelievable destruction appeared on TV screens all over the world. At 300 km/h speed, Typhoon „Haiyan“ hit the Philippines, left behind a swath of destruction, countless dead and took away with him everything the survivors once possessed. Thousands of people ended up having nothing within a few hours: no water, no food, no clothes, no home! People from all over the world were doing their part to help these people.
In cooperation with the Executive Team, the Tipico Cares Social Committee organised a fund raising event to collect money in aid of the Philippines. All donations were multiplied by four by Tipico so every donated Euro was worth 4€. Finally, a total sum of 25,000 € could be handed over to the victims of this catastrophe.

Tipico is official sponsor of the International Baroque Festival Valletta. CEO Jan Bolz and Ray Attard, CEO of the Teatru Manoel, which will house the main festival stage signed a wide-ranging sponsorship agreement in 2012.
“The International Baroque Festival Valletta promises a new and genuine entertainment experience for all baroque music lovers who will be attending its two-week programme of events”, Tipico’s CEO Jan Bolz informs. “Since Tipico is expanding its operations in Malta, we are committed to supporting such an important event and hope to do so for a long time to come”.
After signing the contract, Ray Attard, CEO of the Teatru Manoel, agrees, “We are very proud to have reached this important agreement with Tipico which will be supporting this very first edition of the Festival. The aim of the festival is to establish itself as a major highlight in Malta’s cultural calendar. It is through the support of important partners like Tipico that this ambition can be reached.”
Being a Maltese company, Tipico invests in cultural sponsoring as an element of its Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Responsibility and contributes financially to the cultural calendar of Malta. Around 200 musicians and performers from some of the best European Baroque ensembles perform their art at various, historical locations all over Valletta.

Tipico supported a charity initiative organised by, the largest betting community in German speaking countries. As part of the fundraising-campaign "Licht ins Dunkel" (“Light into the dark“) hosted by Austrian national broadcaster ORF, money for a social project was raised and won through betting respectively. The considerable amount of 7,000 € was handed over to brave Moritz.
During the campaign, the user of donated money by sending Paysafecard codes to the organisers. A total of 3,300 Euro was paid into an online betting account with Tipico and increased to 3515.93 Euro through betting. Tipico as a cooperation partner of the great initiative nearly doubled this amount and increased it to a total of 7,000 Euro. On December 24, the symbolic donation cheque was handed over as part of the "Licht ins Dunkel" live broadcast on ORF 2 Tyrol.
In 2013, family T. from the Austrian Zell am See was chosen as beneficiary by the donors of the betting forum. Ms T. is a single mother of three children, aged 7, 13 and 17. The 7-year-old son Moritz was born with tibial aplasia, a very rare malformation. He was born without a shinbone in his left foot and, therefore, needed a prosthesis for day time and another one for nights every four months. In July 2012 finally, the left leg had to be amputated. To add insult to injury, there is an ongoing legal dispute with the child's father, who had left the family suddenly and refuses to pay alimony. The family was touched and pleased by the unexpected help and sent several thank you to Wettforum and Tipico.
In 2014, donators agreed on family Sch. from the Burgenland as beneficiary of the campaign. In 2012, the 11 years old son suffered from an unexpected and severe cerebral haemorrhage only surviving thanks to an emergency operation. As a result of the huge brain damage, he suffers from spastic paralysis on hands and legs and frequent epileptic seizures. He is lovingly cared for by his single mother. However, the occurring costs are enormous. Currently, the family needs to convert their car so that it is accessible by the son. Ms. Sch. lives by training support, alimony and the highest care level. Each additional income obviously is of great help for the family.

Tipico shows cultural commitment and supports the “Castle and Playing Cards Museum” of Altenburg in Thuringia with the purchase of a historic collection of playing cards. With the acquisition of Europe's unique collection of Mr and Mrs Balan, the Museum could finally compensate for losses due to the Second World War. The purchase was only possible with the support of sponsors such as Tipico, the Ernst von Siemens Art Foundation and the Free State of Thuringia.
“With the support of the Playing Card Museum Altenburg in the purchase of the Balan collection we can assist this culturally and historically significant project in a special way which has close links to our corporate purpose. The collection shows the importance of games for the everyday culture of mankind for centuries now”, says Tipico’s Legal Counsel Dr Hans-Wolfram Kessler.
